Utilities Warning About Water Service Line Maintenance Insurance

Rock Hill Utilities officials are warning customers to be wary of mail solicitations attempting to sell water service line maintenance insurance.  Rock Hill Utilities and the City of Rock Hill do not endorse or affiliate with these companies, however some use confusing and/or deceptive language making a perceived connection with the City. 

Business and home owners are only responsible for the maintenance and/or repair of the water service line on their private property.  The meter and service piping on the street side of the water meter are typically the responsibility of Rock Hill Utilities, and the piping on the house side of the meter is the responsibility of the property owner.  If you have a water, sewer or electric service problem at your business or home, we encourage you to call Rock Hill Utilities at 329-5500 before calling a plumber or electrician.  The Utilities Departments have staff on call 24 hours a day, 7 day a week to answer your questions.  Let the Utilities staff assess whether or not problems with utility services need to be addressed by the City of Rock Hill or if the problem is the responsibility of the property owner.

If considering a Water Service Line Maintenance Insurance Contract, the City encourages customers to fully investigate the terms of the offer to make sure the contract is right for them.
