Public Announcement: Edward Byrne memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)
FY 2018 Local Solicitation (CFDA # 16.738)
The JAG Grant is a direct grant award that provides units of local government with critical funding necessary to support a range of program areas including law enforcement and technology improvement programs. The City of Rock Hill and the Rock Hill Police Department (RHPD) have been awarded $31,410 for the FY 2018 Local JAG Solicitation. This grant does not require matching funds from the RHPD and official approval by the governing body is not necessary.
RHPD’s Chief of Police and Command Staff have made the decision to use the awarded funds to purchase Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) and related hardware for use by law enforcement officers while on duty in police vehicles. MDTs allow officers to access databases such as the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and the Department’s Zuercher Information System. Access to these databases provides officers with information necessary to solve crimes and aid in protecting the general public.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance requires that all JAG applications be made available for review and citizens are provided with an opportunity to comment prior to application submission. To review the application or offer comments please contact Nicole Cauthen, Grants Administrator at (803) 326-3837 or firstname.lastname@example.org by August 21, 2018.
