Adventure meets education when Extreme Kids hit the trail, track, lake, and river this summer! This program is designed to introduce kids to the world of outdoor adventure through biking and kayaking activities. Each session we’ll spend a half-day either paddling or riding; we’ll also take some time to talk about bike or kayak safety and the natural environment we are exploring for the day.

Paddle the Lake: Our lake day starts at the canoe/kayak access Riverwalk, then it’s a short drive up to Nivens Creek Landing on Lake Wylie (we provide the transportation). Once at Nivens we’ll gear up, talk about safety and group travel, and launch for a day of fun on the lake! We’ll paddle around, try different styles of kayaks, swim, and do lunch before heading back to Riverwalk to end our day.

Paddle the River: Our river adventure begins at canoe/kayak access at Riverwalk with a short shuttle up to the Lake Wylie Dam (we provide the transportation). At the dam access we’ll gear up, talk about river safety and group travel then head downstream. Along the way we’ll stop to swim and talk about some of the species that call the river home. After lunch we continue downstream and end the day back at the Riverwalk access.

Ride the Trail: Our first adventure begins at the Rock Hill Supercross BMX facility where we’ll go over some rules of the road along with bike handling skills. Then it’s off to the Piedmont Medical Center Trail for a 6 mile ride. Along the trail we’ll make a couple of stops to break for water and talk about the natural and cultural history of the river. Our day ends with lunch back at the Rock Hill Supercross BMX facility.

Ride the Track: Our BMX day begins with learning about riding gear, safety, skills, and then it’s time to hit the track! This will involve a guided orientation to riding the BMX track along with some open riding time. The riding will be strenuous, but we’ll take breaks during the session and end the day with lunch.

  • Participants may choose to attend as many or as few of the four sessions as desired, however, space is limited!
  • Program information will be emailed 3-5 days prior to the session date.
  • Registration deadline is 9:00 AM on the Monday prior to the scheduled session. The deadline to cancel and receive a refund is 5:00 PM on the Friday prior to the scheduled session.
