The mountain bike trails at the Rock Hill Outdoor Center are open and ready for use! Approximately 6 – 7 total miles of trail are available with varying levels of difficulty - easy, difficult, and most difficult. Interesting features of the trails include views of the Catawba River and the Carhart Mansion ruins along with challenging terrain.
Cyclists should begin at the trail head for the Piedmont Medical Center Trail and review the signage to plan the appropriate trail for their experience level. The trail head for the mountain bike trail system is located about a mile down the paved Piedmont Medical Center Trail. Cyclists on the mountain bike trails should control their speed while exiting onto and using the shared use Piedmont Medical Center Trail.
Trail Signs & Levels of Difficulty
The mountain bike trail system is marked with red directional arrows and includes colored symbols marking the levels of difficulty: Green Dot - Easy, Blue Square - More Difficult, and Black Diamond - Very Difficult. Although there are directional arrows, the trails can be ridden in any direction.
Most of the trail is Blue with a little Black. A 2 to 3 mile Green trail enters at the same place as the Blue, then forks off and exits further down the Piedmont Medical Trail. The Green trail is a combination of gravel and clay service roads, sewer easement and a short section of single track. The Blue trail starts and ends at the same place. Note: The clay road sections of the Green trail can be sloppy after a heavy rain.
