Have you ever played bocce? Come give it a try on Boyd Hill Recreation Center’s bocce courts!

Bocce originated in Italy and is one of the oldest of all lawn bowling games. Bocce is played between two players or two teams of up to four players on a team. The game is played with 8 large balls -- 4 of one color, 4 of another color, and one small target ball called the "jack" or "pallino." Players try to position their bocce balls closer to the target jack than their opponent. Players can also use their bocce balls to knock an opponent’s ball further away from the jack, thus potentially improving their own position in relation to the jack.

Bocce is a great sport for people of all ages and can be played on a variety of surfaces. Visit Boyd Hill Recreation Center and check out a set of bocce balls so you can get rolling with this fun sport! Or bring your own set of bocce balls. They can be found in many stores in the sporting goods section or with the spring and summer seasonal items. Staff members are happy to help you get started!
