On October 27, 2008, the City of Rock Hill adopted an Airport Overlay District Ordinance as part of a collaborative effort with York County to comprehensively address airport land use compatibility issues. The Airport Overlay District includes the previously approved Field Height and Hazard Protection Zones and newly created Airport Land Use Protection Zones. The AOD consists of existing and new standards/requirements intended to ensure greater land use compatibility around the airport. Although primarily affecting new development, properties within the Airport Overlay District Land Use Protection Zones may be subject to additional requirements and/or restrictions. Information about the Airport Overlay District can be found below.

The City and County hosted two community meetings held on July 29 and 31 to present proposed changes to the Airport Overlay District. Please note that the following Zone names were changed subsequent to these meeting:
Airport Influence Zones --> Airport Land Use Protection Zones
Airport Safety Zone --> Airport Influence Zone
