National Night Out is a nation-wide initiative held the first Tuesday each August to let the criminals know they are not welcome in our neighborhoods! Coordinated locally by the Rock Hill Police Department, participation in Rock Hill's National Night Out has grown steadily over the last few years. For 2009, there were 23 neighborhoods who signed up to participate by holding events such as block parties, flashlight walks, ice cream socials, fish frys, and barbecues. In support of our neighborhoods, the City of Rock Hill sends caravans made up of City officials and representatives from Rock Hill Fire, Police, EMT, Neighborhood Empowerment, etc. out to each neighborhood event. In 2008, due to large number of neighborhoods participating, the number of caravans was increased to 3. This year for 2010, the number of caravans has been increased again to 4, due to the record-breaking participation by Rock Hill's neighbohroods!
