The Riverwalk Trail is a 2 ¼ mile asphalt trail offering scenic views of the Catawba River and a great location for outdoor activities. It is the first project to be completed in the planned Riverwalk community in Rock Hill.

News: Trail Reopening
After being closed for less than a week, the Riverwalk Trail is expected to reopen on Sat. Sept. 4th at 8am. The trail was closed due to construction at the River District site. Signs will direct visitors along a new temporary road to the trail’s parking lot to bypass continuing construction. Questions may be directed to 803-329-5620.
About the Trail
The trail is 10 ft. wide, and it is a 2 ¼ mile trail in and then 2 ¼ mile back out. (It does not form a loop.) There are some flat areas as well as uphill and downhill stretches with steep grades. Along the trail are benches, garbage cans, pet stations, and bridges. Restrooms are located at the parking lot.
The trail is located in a flood plain and is subject to flooding. Use caution during and after periods of heavy precipitation.
Use of the Trail
The trail is a shared use trail allowing for walking/running and biking. Pets are allowed on a 3’ leash. The speed limit for bicycles is 10 mph. The trail is handicapped accessible and it will be monitored by park staff. Park Rules
Location
The trail is located in the new Riverwalk community on Cherry Road/Hwy 21 near the Catawba River. From I-77 Exit 82A, go .8 miles on Cherry Road/Hwy 21 toward Fort Mill and turn right onto Dunkin’s Ferry Road at the Riverwalk sign. Turn left onto Terrace Park and continue to the trail’s parking lot.
Thirty parking spaces are available in the main lot near the trail head. An additional overflow lot is also available.
Connectivity
The Riverwalk Trail is part of the City of Rock Hill’s Trails and Greenways System as well as the Carolina Thread Trail, a regional network of trails and greenways spanning 15 counties and connecting over two million people. The trail will eventually connect to other parts of the Riverwalk development.
About Riverwalk
Riverwalk is the planned 1,000 acre residential, commercial and retail community to be developed along the Catawba River, bordered by Cherry Road and Cel-River Road. Approximately 250 acres will be devoted to public recreation amenities including river access, additional trails, athletic fields, parks, gardens, a climbing wall, and a variety of cycling venues.
