PRT Program & Facilities Status

Post Date:03/17/2020 10:00 AM

Update March 31, 2020

Per the Governor’s order to close public access to the state’s beaches, rivers and lakes, the kayak/canoe launch at Riverwalk is now closed. The launch at River Park had previously been closed due to construction activities.

To be consistent with guidance from the CDC and DHEC, the cancellation of PRT programs and events has been extended to April 30. Trails and green spaces remain open, but the following PRT facilities are closed until further notice:

Playgrounds
Recreation Centers
Rock Hill Sports & Event Center
Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track
Giordana Velodrome
Rock Hill Tennis Center
Offices at Cherry Park and Manchester Meadows

Update March 24, 2020

City Playgrounds, BMX Track, Giordana Velodrome and Tennis Center Closed

Per Governor McMaster’s Executive Order prohibiting gatherings of three or more people, Parks, Recreation & Tourism playgrounds will be closed until further notice, as well as the Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track, Giordana Velodrome and Rock Hill Tennis Center. Trails and green spaces will remain open, but we ask people to practice social distancing and keep at least a 6-foot separation from other trail users.

These closures are in addition to previous adjustments that include all PRT programs and events canceled through April 3, and closure of the four recreation centers, the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center, the Cherry Park Tower and the Manchester Meadows office.

(Update Mar. 17, 2020)

During this time of health and safety concerns, the City of Rock Hill urges citizens to follow guidelines given by DHEC and the CDC including general personal hygiene, hand washing and social distancing.

Although PRT programs and events have been canceled through April 3, all parks, playgrounds, green spaces, and trails remain open at this time.  The four recreation centers, the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center, the Cherry Park Tower and the Manchester Meadows office are closed at this time.

Any updates will be posted to cityofrockhill.com and to City of Rock Hill social media sites including the PRT Department’s Facebook and Instagram accounts @rockhillprt.
