The Fire Prevention Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals hears appeals from businesses and individuals as they relate to the interpretation of the Fire Prevention Code. This Board was created March 9, 1987.

Five members appointed by City Council. The following individuals are suggested as in accordance with the International Fire Code: one design professional; one fire protection engineering professional; one industrial safety professional; one general contractor; and one general industry or business representative. The Board shall consist of members who are qualified by experience and training to pass on matters pertaining to hazards of fire, explosions, hazardous conditions or fire protection systems and are not employees of the jurisdiction. Members must reside within the Rock Hill City limits.

  • Hear appeals from businesses and individuals on administrative decisions and interpretations of the Fire Prevention Code.
  • Grant variances and modifications to the Code.
  • Modify or reverse decisions of the Fire Marshal.
  • Have a general understanding of the Board's bylaws and attendance requirements.
Meeting Schedule:
This Board meets as called in Council Chambers at City Hall.
