Nikita L. Jackson is a Rock Hill native who grew up in the Sunset Park community. Ms. Jackson graduated from Northwestern High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Bennett College in Greensboro.
Ms. Jackson’s interest in politics began when she attended National Night Out for the Sunset Park neighborhood. From there, it led to participation in various meetings sponsored by the City of Rock Hill Housing & Neighborhood Services department, including leadership training, “Changing the World One Issue at a Time.” Ms. Jackson is also a 2009 graduate of the City’s civics class, Inside Rock Hill.
Ms. Jackson was a board member for the Weed and Seed program, where she was chairperson for the Economic Development Committee. She served two consecutive terms and was vice-chair on the Keep York County Beautiful Board.
Ms. Jackson was nominated and appointed to the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee for the study of social studies. She held the position of secretary for the York County Democratic Party for four years and is a graduate of the 2016 Inaugural Class of the Congressman James E. Clyburn Political Fellowship Program.
Ms. Jackson is employed by Agapé Hospice and has held the positions of Community Liaison, Senior Solution Advisor and Volunteer Manager. Ms. Jackson has a love and passion for serving her community believing, “We must trust the process in order to be successful.”
Ms. Jackson is an active member of Union Baptist Church. She is the proud mother of Caleb J. Jackson, is the daughter of Thomas L. Jones and Virgie L. Jackson, and sister of Derrick L. Jackson.
