At this time, all Lifelong Learning @ Rock Hill classes have been suspended due to COVID-19. In the meantime...
- Covid-19 changed many aspects in our lives, but the "Not Your High School Poetry" class decided to continue for two more sessions via Zoom with their instructor, Joanne Gaskins, introducing us to more great British poetry appropriate for our times. Ten of 13 original members joined the class on May 12 and will continue the following week. Comments from class members included: “Joanne is a very engaging teacher. She knows her poetry, authors, and adds humor to the class. I especially appreciated learning the connection to nature in the poems.”
“These poems you chose are so very appropriate for our times now- I think we are all appreciating the pretty springtime yards, flowers , birds, etc." “With so much focus on what has been interrupted right now, it is especially fun to focus on poems, nature, and just discuss something totally different. Thank you to our excellent teacher.”
- What have you been doing to continue learning during this time? We would love to hear from you! (email us at LifelongLearning@cityofrockhill.com)
- Please enjoy this virtual lecture by Dr. Eddie Lee of Winthrop University on "America and the 1918-1919 Spanish Flu Epidemic."
