Camp Arc is a mainstreamed summer day camp program for youth and adults who have an intellectual disability. There are eight, one week sessions of camp which divided by age groups and each camper may attend one session per summer. Camp hours are 9 AM - 2 PM unless otherwise noted. Each day campers participate in sports, art and swimming activities and there is one special event every session. This camp is open to residents of York County.

History

In 1970, a group of citizens from various civic organizations created the first residential camp for children and adults who are mentally disabled. In 1997, Camp Arc grew to include children who are not disabled. In 1970, Camp Arc served 42 campers. Today Camp Arc serves over 300 campers during eight weeks of day camp at Boyd Hill Recreation Center and one week of residential camp at Bethelwoods.

Registration

Camp Arc applications are sent to the Special Services Department in every school district in York County. They are typically available in mid-March each year. Contact our staff at Boyd Hill Center at 803-329-5652 to learn more.
