Balance Bike Field Trip

Grades: 3K/4K

Introduce your littlest learners to the joy of cycling with confidence! Students will learn, practice, and implement the basics of biking either on school grounds or at the Rock Hill Velodrome.

Learning Goals: Physical literacy (balance/coordination), independence, and fun!

Duration: Sessions are booked on separate days.

• 3K - Three 30 minute sessions
• 4K - Two 45 minutes sessions

Cycles and Recycling 

Spark curiosity about nature with a three-part exploration at the beautiful Glencairn Garden. Students will learn about plant life cycles, experience a hands-on session about waste and its impact on our world, and get the basics of force down on balance bikes.

Learning Goals: Understanding basic biological life cycles, environmental stewardship, and recycling practices.

Duration: Three rotating classes.

Balance Bike Blitz

Bring biking to your school grounds! Our team delivers a 45-minute high energy bike safety and balance workshop. We provide all equipment and instructions. No trip planning needed!

Learning Goals: Balance, confidence, basic cycling skills and safety habits.

Duration: 45 minutes per class

Location: School Onsite

Water, Geology & Climbing Wall Adventure 

A day of adventure combining environmental science with a physical challenge. The day begins with lessons on aquatic macroinvertebrates and their relation to water quality; then students experience the movement of tectonic plates, erosion and layering in hands on experiments. Finally, students will conquer the climbing wall to emphasize resilience and teamwork.

Learning Goals: Define and classify various vertebrates and invertebrates, understand how geological features are created and eroded, and develop cooperation and communication skills through physical activity.

Duration: 1 class (4 hours)

Water and the Environment: 70 minute lesson

Climbing Wall: 70 minute lesson

Animals and the Environment: 45 minute lesson/Lunch

Bike Blitz

We’ll come to you with this 45-minute bike safety workshop. Students will learn how to safely ride and manage a bike, including shifting and rules of the road. We provide all equipment and instructions. No trip planning needed!

Learning Goals: Bike safety, etiquette, and reinforced fundamentals.

Eco-Adventure: Ecosystems, Teambuilding & Kayaking 

An exciting blend of science and adventure at Rock Hill Lake Park that immerses students in the movement of energy through food webs, group problem-solving and on-water exploration.

Learning Goals: Energy flow in ecosystems, collaboration, and environmental stewardship.

Duration: 1 class (3 hours)

• Ecosystems-Follow the Energy: 45 minutes
• Team building: 60 minutes
• Kayaking: 60 minutes

Biking Through History

Take a historic cycling tour through Rock Hill history. Students will make stops at historic sites along the Piedmont Medical Trail to learn more about the community’s heritage, culture, and the evolution of transportation in South Carolina.

Learning Goals: Local history, physical literacy and endurance, and civic pride.

Duration: 1 Class (3.5 Hours)

Location: Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track

Cost: City Resident: $175; Non-City Resident: $350

This program features three themed sessions (Water, Nature, and STEM) designed to engage students through hands-on, meaningful learning. Each session includes grade-level lessons, allowing students to begin the day in small groups with instruction tailored to their age and skill level. After lessons, students come together as a mixed-age group to build community and collaborate. The group portion includes a themed craft and an interactive game or activity that reinforces the session’s focus.
