If you are constructing a new building or if you have an existing building and would like to add more lighting, you may lease commercial light fixtures from the City, and the City will install and maintain them.

Details

• The poles will be a direct burial, black, fiberglass 26-foot height pole with a burial depth of 4 feet and a mounting height of 22-foot height.
  • Available fixtures include:
    • FG-SL (23,000 – 25,000 lumens), type 4
    • FG-SL2 (33,000 – 36,000 lumens), either type 4 or type 5
• Each pole may have up to three fixtures attached to it.
• The poles will be placed at least 5 feet behind the curb or have protective bollards installed as required by the Electric Department staff.
• A 10-foot easement centered along the lighting circuit path is required.
• The customer is responsible for paying up-front costs for the wire, ditch, and conduit fee of $8 per foot.
• The City will install 2-inch grey schedule 40 PVC conduit buried at a depth of 36 inches once curbing has been installed.
• The City does not guarantee final compaction for the site—that is the responsibility of the customer.
• The City will waive the ditch and conduit fee ($8 per foot) if the customer installs the conduit. Conduit must be installed at a depth of 36 inches using 2-inch grey schedule 40 PVC with a pull string. This is typically done to avoid site scheduling issues.
• The lighting fixtures will operate by a photocell from dusk to dawn. There are no timer options available.

Payment Options

Under both options, the city retains ownership of all poles and fixtures, and will be responsible for maintenance. All rates are subject to change.

Option 1: Pole and Fixture Purchase

The customer pays: 

• An up-front cost for the poles and fixtures; and
• Monthly energy and maintenance costs of
  • $36.66 per fixture for FG-SL (23,000 – 25,000 lumens) fixtures
  • $44.23 per fixture for FG-SL2 (33,000 – 36,000 lumens) fixtures

Option 2: Poles and Fixture Lease

The customer can forgo the up-front cost of the poles and fixtures. The customer will sign a 48-month lease for the poles and fixtures.

• FG-SL (23,000 – 25,000 lumens) Fixtures: The cost is $63.70 per month for one fixture per pole for 48 months, with an additional cost of $36.66 per month for each additional fixture attached to the pole.
  • For example, if you have three fixtures attached to a pole, the cost for that pole would be $137.02 per month ($63.70 + $36.66 + $36.66). After the 48-month lease is complete, the cost would become $36.66 per month per fixture.
• FG-SL2 (33,000 – 36,000 lumens) Fixtures: The cost is $78.70 per month for one fixture per pole for 48 months, with an additional cost of $44.23 fee for each additional fixture attached to that pole.
  • For example, if you have three fixtures attached to a pole, the cost for that pole would be $167.16 per month ($78.70 + $44.23 + $44.23).

After the 48-month lease is complete, the cost would become $44.23 per month per fixture.
