In most cases, the paving of a driveway, patio or parking lot does not require a building permit. Even when a building permit is not required, there are other factors to consider when paving to make sure any proposed changes comply with applicable stormwater and zoning related standards. Submit this application along with a sketch plan for review before starting any work.
Submit a Driveway, Patio or Paving Application for residential or commercial paving of driveways, parking lots, patios or other impervious areas when a building permit is not required. Depending on the scope of the work, amount of imperious area to be added or if a change in existing drainage patterns is proposed, a civil construction plan and land disturbance permit may be required.
Submit your Driveway, Patio or Paving Application along with a sketch plan to the Permit Application Center (PAC). The PAC will route your application to the appropriate departments for review. When the review is complete you should receive an email with an approval letter or further instructions.
Contact any PAC representative at 803-329-5590 or by email.
