The Albright Road & Saluda Road Corridor is one of six redevelopment areas identified in the City’s Focus 2020 Comprehensive Plan. It is thought of by most residents as the City’s primary southern artery, connecting the southern side of the City with I-77. It is distinct from other major corridors because it has experienced little development pressure and is largely undeveloped.  However, a combination of public sector and private sector investments make the area prime for development.

The overall framework for this plan is to create a multi-modal corridor that balances meeting the needs of nearby residents with supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs and preserving mobility for commuters. While increasing activity along the corridor is the focus, it should not be achieved at the expense of safety, aesthetics, or quality.

Planning Staff held internal meetings with various City Departments, two stakeholder meetings, two public meetings, two workshops with City Council, and presented the draft plan to the Planning Commission at its November 1st, 2016 meeting.  The plan was approved by City Council at its February 27, 2017 meeting.
