Christmas Parade and Bleachery Fieldhouse Grand Opening
(Left) The Rock Hill Christmas Parade, held Dec. 5, drew a large crowd and featured numerous floats, bands and walking units. A special visitor from the North Pole even made an appearance! (Right) The Bleachery Fieldhouse Grand Opening was held on Dec. 16. The event kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an inaugural first shot. Parks, Recreation & Tourism Employee Spotlight
Sophia Kemp
Sophia joined PRT in April of 2025. She's a building and park maintenance technician at the Rock Hill Sports and Event Center, and her duties now include the new Bleachery Fieldhouse! Sophia was born and raised in Rock Hill, but she's also lived in Raleigh, NC and Bluffton, SC. After living in other cities, she's glad to be back home. Sophia enjoys boxing, reading, going to the beach and helping out at her church.
Facility Update
Park Maintenance Education
On-going staff education is an important element for park maintenance. Parks staff participated in a tree felling class that will allow them to safely assist with tree work through the City.
